E-ONE Typhoon Chassis Features

The cab features a built-in roll cage design and a galvanized frame, making it ideal for harsh environments. Its roof is engineered to support over five times the NFPA/SAE standards. The cab sub-frame is secured at the front by a C-channel extrusion and reinforced with multiple cross members beneath the rear cab floor. Constructed with an all-welded approach—eschewing adhesives, formed panels, and fiberglass noses—it utilizes four-sided seamless extrusions that are interlocked and welded to 3/16” aluminum plating on the floors, rear walls, side walls, doors, door skins, and roof. The C-channel frame measures 10.25” x 3.5” x .375” and is made of 110,000 psi heat-treated steel, with 16.61 cubic inch section modules that provide an impressive 1,827,045 inch-pounds of resistance to bending moments, ensuring a lifetime warranty that covers the cross members.
The E-ONE chassis is equipped with powerful 330 to 600 HP Cummins® engines, paired with Allison® EVS 3000 or 4000 transmissions for optimal performance. It features robust Meritor® axles, offering a gross vehicle weight (GVW) rating of up to 22,800 pounds in the front and 62,000 pounds in the rear. For reliable electrical performance, the chassis includes an alternator with a capacity of up to 320 AMP. With a 45-degree cramp angle for enhanced maneuverability, it also boasts standard disc brakes with ABS for improved safety. The front suspension utilizes a taper leaf spring design, while a multi-leaf rear suspension ensures a smooth ride. Additionally, the cab provides seating for up to 10 personnel, accommodating the needs of any fire department.
Features options for full-length or barrier-style doors and is equipped with G4™ Electronic Stability Control for enhanced safety. Airbags are included for additional protection, while 17-inch front and rear disc brakes ensure reliable stopping power. The vehicle can be fitted with medical cabinets that provide interior, exterior, or dual access, catering to emergency response needs. Designed for durability, it boasts a severe-duty interior and offers several cab length options: 44.5”, 58” medium, 67.5” long, 74”, or 80” extended. Additionally, customers can choose from various vista roof heights of 12”, 16”, 20”, or 24”, with a 12” split-raised roof option available for aerial configurations. The vehicle also presents a variety of bumper styles, including polished stainless steel and severe-duty painted steel C-channel, along with bumper extensions ranging from 12” to 28” featuring multiple tray configurations. Finally, the Independent Front Suspension (IFS) enhances ride quality for a smoother experience on the road.
