Description
An outrigger alarm pressure switch is a device that is used to detect movement of outriggers on aerial fire apparatus. Outriggers are hydraulically extended and retracted stabilizers that are used to provide stability when the aerial ladder is extended.
The pressure switch is typically mounted on the outrigger cylinder and is connected to a pressure sensor. If the pressure drops below a preset level, the pressure switch activates an alarm to warn the operator that the outrigger is moving.
It is an important safety device that helps to prevent accidents caused by outrigger failure.
