1993 Spartan Darley Pumper

Spartan  4 door enclosed cab with seating for 6 with 5 SCBA seats. Powered by Detroit diesel engine and Allison Automatic Transmission. Darley 2000 GPM Pump with 700 gallon water tank. The truck is equipped with two 1.75″ crosslays and two 1.50″ hose reels one on the drivers side and one on the passengers side of the pump. The drivers side pump has a 3″ and 6″ intake and two 3″ discharges. The officers side pump panel has 6″ and 3″ intake and the following discharges 3″, LDH and 1.5″ discharges. The rear of the truck is equipped with a  5″ discharge. The truck is equipped with a 10kW Hydraulic Generator and scene lights. The truck is equipped with NFPA emergency lighting and sirens. Darley History

William Stuart Darley formed the company as a municipal supply business in Chicago in 1908, offering fire equipment among his wares. By the 1920s, Darley began concentrating on the fire equipment field and offered a series of small centrifugal pumps ideally suited for attachment to Ford Model “T” trucks, providing an inexpensive fire truck option for small towns. In the 1930s, Darley expanded operations to provide complete fire apparatus using front-mount Barton pumps and, initially, bodies built by Luverne.

The Darley Champion pump was launched in 1934 and proved successful. The pumps were built in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the home of the designer and pump manufacturing continues there today. Hundreds of fire trucks were built for the American military during World War II and business expanded considerably after.

Today, Darley continues to manufacture apparatus, pumps, Compressed Air Foam systems and water purification systems. The company is still family-run and celebrated its centennial in 2008.

Spartan History 

Spartan Motors was formed in Charlotte, Michigan in 1976 by four engineers from the bankrupt Diamond-REO truck company. Spartan designed and manufactured a custom cabover chassis for fire services. Like Duplex, Hendrickson, Oshkosh and Pemfab, Spartan supplied chassis to apparatus body manufacturers – this market niche falls between custom apparatus built entirely by apparatus manufacturers (like Pierce or E-One) and commercial chassis rigs like Ford, Freightliner or GMC. Unlike their specialty competitors, Spartan would build chassis to end-user specifications, enabling smaller body manufacturers to offer a custom apparatus option. The Spartan chassis was popular, and apparatus manufacturers throughout North America offered (and continue to offer) Spartan-chassis apparatus.

In the 1980s, Spartan also began to build custom chassis for motor homes.

Early models included the CFC, CFG and CFH chassis. The Gladiator was introduced in 1983 and continues to be one of Spartan’s most popular models. Other models introduced in the 1980s and 1990s included the Diamond, the Monarch, the rear-engine Silent Knight and the GT-One. The Metro Star and Advantage were introduced in the latter part of the 1990s and the Metro Star remains in production today
