Manufacturer History: Formed in 1890, Sutphen initially acted as a dealer for companies like American Fire Apparatus and Pirsch, and also built apparatus on commercial chassis. In 1963, the Sutphen Aerial Tower was introduced, and the new aerial device gained in popularity. Initially, models were sold on commercial chassis, but by the late 1960s, Sutphen was offering trucks on TCM “Cincinnati” cabs. A fully-custom chassis was released in the early 1970s.

Sutphen operates from four facilities – it’s main plant and head office in Aimlin, an aerial device plant in nearby Hilliard, a chassis plant in Springfield (Ohio) and a commercial chassis apparatus plant in Monticello, NY.
